About 100 Under 100K
Good work deserves to be known.
100 Under 100K is an independent publication about creators building a reputation in their field. Through profiles and interviews, we introduce their work to people who haven’t found it yet.
Ask someone who spends their weekends restoring a car or learning to bake which accounts they follow. They’ll often name a person who has helped them solve a problem, changed their mind or made them want to try something. That person may be little known outside the subject.
We started this journal to look more closely at those people. We’re interested in how a creator earns that attention, and what their work tells us about the community around it.
Beyond the familiar names
There is plenty to discover beyond the most visible corners of social media. Farming has its teachers and chroniclers. Software has people showing how a product gets made. Every sport has coaches, competitors and fans with something to add. Our coverage gives these worlds room alongside food, style, entertainment and the arts.
What you’ll find in a profile
We want to understand the decisions behind the finished work. What first drew someone to their subject? What took years to learn? Which project changed their approach? A profile follows those questions and points you towards the videos, writing or other work that helps tell the story.
100 creators, one subject at a time
Each of our 100 categories has room for up to 100 creators, with an individual article for each person. We focus on people with fewer than 100,000 followers on their featured account. Collections are unranked, and creators do not pay to be included.
Our first collections cover Australia, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, European Union countries and New Zealand.
The editorial desk
You may hear from Amelia, the editorial pen name used for our correspondence with creators. 100 Under 100K is a new publication, and we’re preparing our first collection of profiles.
